zinc oxide for rubber

Zinc Oxide for Rubber

KosNano provides high-activity zinc oxide for rubber, model KOSN-3001.

This zinc oxide powder is specifically used to improve the wear resistance, mechanical properties, and vulcanization efficiency of high-performance rubber products.

We use a special production process, providing high surface activity and good dispersibility.

It is suitable for rubber products with high requirements for wear resistance.

Basic Properties of Our Zinc Oxide Powder

Appearance

Light yellow fine powder

Chemical Composition

Mainly composed of zinc oxide and zinc spinel structure composites

Properties

High activity, enhanced wear resistance, excellent reinforcing performance, and good processing adaptability

Our Technical Advantages

1. Improved Wear Resistance

Through surface modification treatment, the bonding with rubber molecular chains is enhanced, improving the resistance of rubber products to abrasive cutting and fatigue wear under severe operating conditions.

According to laboratory testing, in a standard formulation, DIN abrasion loss can be reduced by up to 40%.

2. High Vulcanization Activity

It has a relatively high concentration of oxygen vacancies and density of active sites, which can effectively promote the crosslinking reaction in sulfur vulcanization systems.

It can improve vulcanization efficiency by approximately 10–15% and helps form a denser and more uniform crosslinked network structure.

3. Reinforcing Performance

The zinc spinel structure, together with the active sites of zinc oxide, can improve the tensile strength, tear resistance, and modulus at specified elongation of rubber compounds.

At the same time, it helps maintain resilience and reduce dynamic heat build-up.

4. Processing Performance

Surface modification treatment improves compatibility with commonly used rubbers such as Natural Rubber (NR), Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR), Butadiene Rubber (BR), and Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR).

It provides uniform dispersion during mixing, fast incorporation, and stable Mooney viscosity, which is beneficial for extrusion and calendering operations.

5. Recommended Addition Level

Due to its higher activity, under the condition of achieving equivalent performance, the recommended addition level can be approximately 10–15% lower than that of conventional zinc oxide.

This helps optimize formulation costs.

6. Multiple Rubber-Grade Zinc Oxide Options

In addition to KOSN-3001, KOSNANO can support different rubber-grade zinc oxide directions based on wear resistance, vulcanization activity, dispersion requirement, zinc content, and processing needs.

Available directions include high-activity zinc oxide for wear-resistant rubber, rubber-grade zinc oxide for vulcanization support, grinding-grade active zinc oxide, and lightweight active zinc oxide for applications requiring lower density and good dispersibility.
